Traditional IQ testing is expensive, infrequent, and produces a single static number. Brain training apps gamify trivial tasks without measuring anything meaningful. Neither tells you where you actually stand, or how to improve.

TestEarth was built to close that gap. We combine genuine psychometric methodology — the kind used in academic and clinical intelligence research — with the accessibility and habit-forming design of modern software. The result is a platform that gives you a real, evolving picture of your cognitive ability, updated after every session you complete.

The TestEarth Intelligence Score

The TIS is our proprietary 70–160 score — the number at the core of everything we do. It is not a single-question gimmick or a superficial percentage. It is a composite score derived from four distinct performance signals, recalibrated continuously as your data grows.

The Science Behind the Platform

Every design decision on TestEarth is grounded in cognitive science research. Our six question categories were chosen to represent the major factors of human intelligence identified across decades of psychometric research.

Pattern Recognition and Spatial Reasoning measure fluid intelligence — the capacity to reason in novel situations independent of prior knowledge. This is the factor most strongly correlated with general cognitive ability (g-factor) in the research literature.

Number Sequences and Verbal Reasoning assess crystallised intelligence — the application of learned knowledge and language to structured problems. Together with fluid intelligence, these two domains account for the majority of variance in standardised IQ assessments.

Memory Challenges directly train and measure working memory capacity — consistently identified as the cognitive resource most critical to learning, problem-solving, and academic achievement.

Lateral Thinking targets insight problem-solving and divergent thinking — the ability to restructure problems and generate novel solutions. These skills activate distinct neural networks from analytical reasoning and are increasingly valued in research, technology, and strategy roles.

Our timer system reflects well-established findings that processing speed under cognitive load is one of the most reliable psychophysiological markers of intelligence. By rewarding fast, accurate responses, we capture a signal that pure accuracy-based scoring misses entirely.

Where We're Going

TestEarth is in its early stages. The current platform establishes your baseline TIS across six cognitive domains, with three difficulty levels and daily challenges. This is the foundation.

On the roadmap: a competitive Elo-based ranking system for head-to-head cognitive challenges, expanded question banks across all categories, detailed cognitive profile breakdowns, and multi-language support across more than 20 languages. We are also developing an adaptive difficulty engine that learns your specific cognitive strengths and weaknesses and continuously calibrates question selection to maximize your development.

Our long-term vision is a platform where any person — student, professional, researcher, or lifelong learner — can track the development of their cognitive ability over months and years with the same precision that athletes track their physical performance.
